Manchester United’s search for further midfield additions appears to be gathering momentum, with Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha emerging as a prominent target. According to Patrick Berger, Christopher Vivell is playing a central role in monitoring developments surrounding the Germany international.

The latest update suggests United have increased their efforts, although any move remains at an early stage. Dortmund are understood to value Nmecha at around £52 million, a figure that reflects both his growing influence and long term potential.
Patrick Berger provided an encouraging update for United supporters, writing:
“Manchester United are stepping up their pursuit of Felix Nmecha.”
He also added:
“Christopher Vivell, #MUFC Director of Recruitment, remains in close contact with the player’s camp.”

That ongoing dialogue is significant. Recruitment often begins with relationships before formal negotiations, and maintaining communication can prove valuable if circumstances change later in the transfer window.
Berger also noted:
“Manchester City, Liverpool and Real Madrid are all keeping a close eye on the situation. A move to the Premier League is viewed as a realistic option in the future.”
Competition from Europe’s biggest clubs illustrates the regard in which Nmecha is held.
Despite growing interest, Berger also made clear that the midfielder’s immediate focus remains elsewhere.
“But for now, Nmecha is happy at Dortmund and fully focused on the World Cup with Germany. With the start of the new season, Nmecha is set to move into the salary bracket previously occupied by Niklas Sule.”

That suggests Manchester United may need patience before deciding whether to formalise their interest with an official offer.
Nmecha’s recent international performances have only strengthened his reputation, while his athleticism, technical ability and versatility make him an attractive option for clubs seeking quality in central midfield. If United continue to prioritise strengthening that area, his name is likely to remain high on their shortlist.
Manchester United supporters will probably welcome reports linking the club with Felix Nmecha. Midfield remains an area that needs strengthening, and he offers a combination of physicality, intelligence and technical quality that could suit the Premier League.
The reported involvement of Christopher Vivell is also encouraging because it suggests United are working methodically rather than reacting late in the market. Establishing contact early is often a sign that groundwork is being completed before any formal approach.
There are obvious challenges. Borussia Dortmund are under no pressure to sell, and interest from several elite clubs could increase both the transfer fee and the player’s options. Even so, if United believe Nmecha fits their long term strategy, pursuing the deal is understandable.
Supporters will also appreciate that the club appears to be considering multiple midfield options rather than relying on a single target. That flexibility is essential in a competitive transfer market. If Nmecha eventually arrives at Old Trafford, he would bring experience from the Bundesliga, international football and a profile that could develop further over the coming seasons.
