Jude Bellingham: Real Madrid midfielder out for three months after shoulder surgery

England international dislocated his shoulder over a year ago
Jude Bellingham will be ruled out for three months after successfully undergoing surgery on a shoulder injury.
The Real Madrid midfielder dislocated his left shoulder back in November 2023 against Rayo Vallecano, and that ruled him out for four games.
However, he returned to the side ever since, and has played through the pain barrier with strapping over the injury as he went on to lift the Champions League in 2024, beating his former club Borussia Dortmund in the final at Wembley and featuring for England at the European Championships, where they were beaten by Spain in the final.
Bellingham was set to have surgery after this summer’s Club World Cup, and the ex-Birmingham City man flew to London after Madrid’s 4-0 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.
Bellingham, 22, started the game but was substituted just after the hour for Luka Modric.
Real, now managed by former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, reaching the last four of the revamped tournament in the United States delayed Belligham’s surgery until the middle of July, and now leaves him out for longer than anticipated going into the new campaign.
Madrid will play Osasuna in their La Liga opener on August 19, and Los Blancos had a request to move it later due to their Club World Cup participation rejected by the Spanish top flight.
Bellingham is thought to be out until at least October, and he is due to miss seven league games in that time, including a Madrid derby against Atletico on September 28.
He is also set to be sidelined for England’s World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia in September. The Three Lions face Wales in a friendly on October 9.
