Jürgen Klopp dismisses Real Madrid links and backs Xabi Alonso | OneFootball

Jürgen Klopp, now Red Bull’s director of football, has dismissed links to Real Madrid and offered support for Xabi Alonso, who was dismissed on Monday.

Alvaro Arbeloa has taken over from the former Bayer Leverkusen coach. Sky Sports reports the German would be a candidate should Madrid opt to appoint a new coach in the summer.

"It has nothing to do with me and it does not affect me at all. Coaching jobs change constantly, and it is good to watch from the outside without worrying what it might mean for you personally, because where I am now suits me," he told ServusTV.

"It is a sign that not everything is going well there if Xabi Alonso, who showed for more than two years at Leverkusen his extraordinary coaching talent, has to leave Real Madrid only six months after his arrival."

"If you take over from a legendary coach like Carlo Ancelotti, who had a particular way of managing his team, it is very difficult to change things. I am really sorry for Xabi Alonso, because I think he is an excellent coach."
