Julian Alvarez was forced off late as Atlético Madrid drew 1-1 with Arsenal in the Champions League semi-final first leg.

The Argentine levelled from the penalty spot in the 56th minute, beating David Raya. According to L'Équipe, his condition will be monitored closely before next week's return at the Emirates Stadium.

Already struggling for several minutes, he then collapsed after a duel with Eze, who landed on his leg and appeared to cause sharp pain. Alvarez tried to continue, sitting down on the turf several times, before signalling to come off.

He was withdrawn in the 77th minute, with Diego Simeone sending on Alex Baena to finish the match. Initial images did not make clear the exact nature of the injury, though it appeared to be caused by the collision.

The 2022 World Cup winner left the pitch limping slightly.
