Julian Alvarez prefers Barcelona move over PSG and Arsenal | OneFootball

Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez is Barcelona’s priority target this summer.

Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain also want the Argentine, but he favours a move to Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Alvarez is tempted by a move to Arsenal, but he does not want to return to the Premier League after his experience at Manchester City.

Despite the appeal of working under manager Luis Enrique and the financial incentives on offer, Alvarez is also unconvinced about joining PSG.

Alvarez is Barcelona’s first choice, with Robert Lewandowski playing as back-up if he extends his contract beyond this summer.

Barcelona are not prepared to pay more than €100 million for him, less than they paid Atletico for Antoine Griezmann in 2019.

Atletico would be reluctant to sell Alvarez. The imminent departure of Griezmann to Major League Soccer club Orlando City further complicates matters.

Majority shareholders Apollo Sports Capital reportedly want to strengthen the squad. Alvarez’s sale would go against those plans.

However, they could be tempted to sell if Barcelona submit a club record deal.

The 26-year-old joined Atletico in 2024 from Man City. He has chipped in with 48 goals and 17 assists in 104 appearances across all competitions.
