With only a few hours separating us from the game, Man Utd supporters have received a delightful injury update.

Patrick Dorgu available for Man Utd vs Brentford

According to Carrington insider Sully, Dorgu, who has been on the sidelines for three months, is finally ready and rearing to go.

Dorgu hurt himself during the victory over Arsenal in North London back in January. The following clinical tests detected a serious hamstring injury, which resulted in a lengthy layoff.

But as the journalist explains, the Dane managed to accelerate his recovery process in recent days, as the initial plan was to have him return against Liverpool on Sunday.

The source thus credits the player and the Man Utd medical staff for doing their utmost best to be back ahead of schedule.

Dorgu’s recovery also coincides with Leny Yoro’s return from a slight knock, while Harry Maguire is also available once again after serving a two-match ban.

Dorgu’s double role at Man United

With the Copenhagen native back at his disposal, Carrick will have an additional option both up front and at full-back.

When Dorgu first burst onto the scene at Lecce, he was considered a left-back, but he later played in a more advanced role on the pitch. Therefore, Ruben Amorim considered him the right profile for the wing-back slot in his 3-4-2-1 system, but the fans were left to wonder how the youngster would fare in Carrick’s 4-2-3-1 system.

Interestingly, the English boss immediately fielded the Danish player as a left winger on his debut against  Manchester City and a week later against Arsenal. The young man managed to score on both occasions, but his momentum was interrupted by the aforementioned injury.

Man Utd legend Patrice Evra urged Carrick to continue to field Dorgu as an attacking winger based on his ‘unbelievable’ performances in January.

At the moment, Matheus Cunha is the first choice on the left wing, while Luke Shaw has been the undisputed starter at left-back this season.

Therefore, it will be important to define Dorgu’s best role before laying transfer plans next summer.
