It’s the first time ever that both Juventus and Milan have failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, and the first time in 35 years that neither side will play in Europe’s elite competition.

Both Juventus and Milan have failed to qualify for the Champions League, earning only a Europa League spot in the 2025-26 Serie A season.

Juventus and Milan’s biggest Champions League flop

The Rossoneri had the faith in their hands, but dramatically lost 2-1 at home to Cagliari on Sunday, seeing Roma and Como leapfrog them into the top four. Juventus, on the other hand, were held to a 2-2 draw by city rivals Torino, finishing sixth behind the Rossoneri.

As reported by TMW, it’s the first time since 1991-92 that neither Juventus nor Milan will play in Europe’s elite competition.

Since the European Cup was rebranded as the UEFA Champions League in 1992, at least one of Juventus or Milan had always been involved.

While Luciano Spalletti is expected to remain in charge of Juventus, having recently signed a contract extension through 2028, Massimiliano Allegri’s future at Milan remains highly uncertain.
