Juventus have confirmed the departure of manager Thiago Motta, who has been replaced in the dugout by Igor Tudor.

Motta only joined Juventus last summer but spent the past few weeks under immense pressure after a string of underwhelming results saw the Turin side fall behind in the race to qualify for next season's Champions League.

There had been suggestions Motta would get at least one more chance to save his position, but Juve have now confirmed they have cut ties with the Italian and replaced him with Tudor, a former assistant manager at the club.

"Juventus FC announces that it has relieved Thiago Motta of his duties as coach of the men's first team," a statement read.

"The Club thanks Thiago Motta and all his staff for the professionalism demonstrated and for the work carried out in these months with passion and dedication, wishing them the best for the future.

"Juventus FC also announces that it has entrusted the leadership of the Men's First Team to Igor Tudor who will lead the first training session tomorrow."

Motta leaves Juventus after 42 games in charge, finishing with a record of 18 wins, 16 draws and eight losses across all competitions.

It is that tally od draws which proved the biggest issue for Motta. Juve took just one point from 13 league games under his watch - more than any other side - and fell down to fifth in the Serie A standings, 12 points behind leaders Inter.
