Juventus enquired about signing Everton striker Beto on a loan deal before the transfer deadline, per The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
However, the Toffees have rejected their enquiry as they have no intention of losing the 28-year-old in the middle of the season.
Juventus are in the market for a new centre-forward, and they have explored a move for Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta.
The Serie A giants held talks with Mateta’s representatives, but they were unwilling to match Palace’s £35 million valuation.
Juve turned their attention to Beto, but Everton are reluctant to sanction an exit, with little time left in the winter window to sign a replacement.
Thierno Barry is David Moyes’ first-choice striker this season, but Beto has also been an important squad player.
The former Udinese star rescued a point for Everton in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion, scoring his third goal of the campaign in stoppage time.
Everton are yet to make a new signing during the winter transfer window, despite losing Jack Grealish to a long-term foot injury.
The 30-year-old is set to undergo surgery and will not play again this season.
Everton are interested in securing a loan move for Chelsea’s Tyrique George, but they face competition from Sunderland.
