Juventus have reached an agreement with RB Leipzig to sign Belgian striker Lois Openda in a deal worth around €40 million.

The 25-year-old is travelling to Turin today and is expected to undergo his medical this afternoon.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the agreement is structured as an initial loan with an option to buy, which could become an obligation if certain conditions are met.

Openda will sign a contract worth around €4 million per season once the move is confirmed.

The striker has been one of Juventus’ main alternatives this summer as the club failed to finalise negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for Randal Kolo Muani.

Juve had hoped to bring back the French forward after his short spell in Turin last season, but talks collapsed due to financial restrictions and PSG’s refusal to accept a staggered payment plan.

With Dusan Vlahovic staying and Kolo Muani out of reach, the Bianconeri turned to Openda in the final hours of the transfer window.

He now becomes the club’s second signing in 24 hours after Edon Zhegrova joined from Lille.

Juventus had only managed to bring in Jonathan David on a free transfer and Joao Mario in a swap deal from Porto this summer.

Openda joined Leipzig in 2023 after scoring prolifically for Lens in Ligue 1.

He bagged 28 goals in all competitions in his first season, establishing himself as one of the league’s most dynamic forwards.

He scored nine times in 33 league games last term, adding five assists despite Leipzig enduring a difficult season.

Openda has also featured regularly for Belgium, winning senior caps since making his debut in 2022.

He is not a classic target man but is known for his pace, sharp movement and ability to stretch defences.

Juventus believe his profile complements their current options and provides greater variety in attack.

The striker is scheduled to land at Caselle Airport around midday before heading for his medical tests.

If all goes smoothly, Openda will be officially unveiled as a Juventus player before tonight’s transfer deadline.
