Juventus ‘to enquire’ with Rui Costa over Benfica defender António Silva | OneFootball

Juventus are understood to have revived their interest in Benfica centre-back António Silva, after a failed approach in winter 2025. The Italian club are said to have enquired with Rui Costa about the 22-year-old and are assessing his contract situation.

A Bola reports that Nicolás Otamendi’s departure could encourage Silva to reassert himself at the club, though the centre-back is said to be unhappy with how the process has been handled.

With the new season approaching, Silva remains on Juventus’ shortlist and his Benfica future is not guaranteed. The Turin side could look to exploit the fact his deal runs only until 2027, amid reluctance to sign new terms.

Benfica plan to table another renewal offer and accept that money alone will not be enough to convince him. The club are prepared to hand the captain’s armband to the 22-year-old if he commits.

Valued at €28 million, Silva made 41 competitive appearances for Benfica in 2025/26, totalling 3,118 minutes. His outings included 25 in the Liga Portugal Betclic, 10 in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal, one in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça.

He scored one goal and provided one assist in that time.
