Harry Kane believes England have more to give at the World Cup, despite booking their place in the semi-finals.

The captain spoke after a gruelling 2-1 extra-time victory over Norway in Miami, sealed by a Jude Bellingham brace. He was honest about the performance.

The conditions made it a punishing evening. “Tough game, hot, really brutal, almost more so than Mexico with the heat and humidity, but again, we found a way,” Kane told England’s official website.

He did not dress up the display. “It wasn’t our prettiest performance, we know that,” he admitted. “I said before in the press conference that there’s another level we can reach. I still feel like we didn’t reach it as a team.”

England had to come from behind. Andreas Schjelderup gave Norway a shock lead in the 36th minute with a stunning effort off the post, before Bellingham levelled in first-half stoppage time.

The Real Madrid man then struck again in the 93rd minute, pouncing on a rebound to win it.

Kane praised his match-winner and the collective effort. “Jude was the game-changer again today, but the boys at the back, Pickers, everyone put in an amazing shift,” he said.

“The most important element of this team is togetherness and we showed that again today.”

Thomas Tuchel was demanding more, even in victory. “He just said there in the changing room, massive congratulations, we should enjoy it and celebrate, but he knows we can do better,” Kane revealed.

“If we are in the semi-finals of a World Cup and knowing we can still improve, we have to take that as a positive.”

The captain, who won his 120th cap to equal Wayne Rooney’s England record, stressed the squad’s depth would be vital. He singled out Djed Spence, whose energy off the bench “really helped change the game.”

Bellingham, meanwhile, became the first player since Diego Maradona in 1986 to score braces in consecutive World Cup knockout matches. England face Argentina in Atlanta on Wednesday at 20:00 BST.
