Kaoru Mitoma is back in contention for Albion’s trip to Anfield to face champions Liverpool.

According to TheArgus.co.uk, Yasin Ayari, Tommy Watson and former Liverpool player James Milner are also available. Solly March, Adam Webster and Stefanos Tzimas remain sidelined, with March on course to be back around the turn of the year.

Mitoma has been out since late September with an ankle problem, which also ruled him out of two international windows. Ongoing pain had delayed his return.

Speaking on Friday morning, Hurzeler said Mitoma has moved past the pain and trained well this week, meaning he is an option for Anfield.

The head coach welcomed having more options, but stressed the need to keep players available through a demanding spell rather than for just one match. He said the focus is on maintaining that availability as the fixtures stack up.

Mitoma has a big part to play for Brighton over the remainder of the season and with Japan as he heads towards a second World Cup. Japan are also due to face England at Wembley in March.
