Manchester United have seemingly accelerated their efforts to strengthen their squad this week.
On Wednesday, United struck an agreement with Chelsea to sign their midfielder, Andrey Santos. Meanwhile, Ederson is set to undergo medical tests imminently to formalise his move to Old Trafford.
Now, the Red Devils have convinced another player to be part of Michael Carrick’s project.
Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Karl Darlow, who could potentially become their third summer signing.
According to Fabrizio Romano, United have agreed a deal to sign Darlow on a free transfer.
Darlow has snubbed a renewal offer from Leeds United to secure a controversial move to Manchester.
The Italian journalist claims the deal is “done and signature to follow on Friday.”
The 35-year-old Welsh goalkeeper, who has been described as “outstanding”, enjoyed a solid season under Daniel Farke at Elland Road, displacing major signing Lucas Perri as the number one.
Darlow made 22 appearances in the Premier League last season, helping Leeds avoid relegation to the Championship. He kept five clean sheets during that time.
Darlow would be a back-up to Senne Lammens at Old Trafford. Meanwhile, United’s current second-choice goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir, is expected to leave this summer.
It has been previously reported that Turkish giants Besiktas are keen on signing Bayindir, who joined United from their Istanbul rivals, Fenerbahce, in 2023.
Meanwhile, United have already agreed to send Andre Onana back to Trabzonspor for another season-long loan in Super Lig.
It is refreshing to see how swiftly INEOS have made changes to their goalkeeping department over the last 12 months.
