Kelly Gago has accused Everton of not being “professional” in an explosive interview with L’Equipe, as she seeks a move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The 27-year-old is seeking a return to France just 12 months after joining Everton from Nantes.

The Athletic has reported that Everton refuse to sell Gago unless PSG meet their valuation of the striker.

However, speaking to L’Equipe, Gago claimed that she had made a verbal agreement with head coach Brian Sorensen that allowed her to join PSG this month.

The article from L’Equipe also claims that an incident involving one of Sorensen’s coaching staff during a training session left her in tears.

SheKicks has approached Everton for a comment.

In her interview with the French publication, Gago suggested she came to a “verbal agreement” with Sorensen that she could join PSG, but not another team in the Women’s Super League.

It was revealed earlier this week that Gago had handed in a transfer request to Everton.

Gago is keen to return to France to be closer to family and actually submitted the transfer request last month, amid links with PSG.

She told L’Equipe: “From the moment the coach gave me his approval, the club had to make its arrangements. I did what I had to do.

“I went to training, to matches, even though it was messy in my head, I remained professional until the end and they’re not professional with me.”

L’Equipe report that Gago has turned to the UNFP, the French professional footballers’ union and FIFPRO for support.

Gago added: “I’m alone against everyone. Every time my agent comes to see me, they dodge him. They say he manipulates me when he doesn’t at all.

“I just want to leave. What I am experiencing is unfair.”

Everton name Kelly Gago asking price

Amid the furore surrounding Gago, The Athletic have reported that Everton are demanding £500,000 from PSG for their star striker Kelly Gago.

The Toffees won’t allow Gago to leave Goodison Park unless their valuation of the 27-year-old is met.

It was reported last month that PSG held an interest in Gago. Manchester United were also said to be interested, but they have bolstered their attacking ranks with the addition of Lea Schuller from Bayern Munich.

Gago has scored nine goals in 23 appearances since joining the Toffees a year ago.

Her form in the second-half of last season earned her a three-year contract extension in the summer, making her Everton’s highest-paid player.

Gago’s potential exit became even tougher with the news of Katja Snoeijs’ ankle injury.

Brian Sorensen confirmed the Dutch international would miss four to six weeks of action after she was taken off on a stretcher during their WSL defeat to Manchester City.

What’s next for Everton?

The Toffees now have a week to prepare before they are back in WSL action.

Everton host Brighton on January 23rd, before welcoming Aston Villa to Goodison Park on February 1st.

All eyes will be on whether the Toffees will bolster their ranks more during the January transfer window, particularly to replace a striker who no longer wants to be at Goodison Park.
