A Kerala supporter spent a night in custody after running onto the pitch to hug Joao Felix during the Asian Champions League 2 meeting between FC Goa and Al-Nassr.

According to The Times of India, South Goa SP Tikam Singh Verma said a case was registered and a notice issued. He added the fan was held at the police station until formalities were completed, and that no arrest was required.

Despite increased policing, the intruder reached the pitch, exposing a security lapse. The Asian Football Confederation is expected to fine FC Goa about USD 10,000, roughly Rs 8.8 lakh.

It would not be the first sanction for the Indian Super League club, who were previously penalised after supporters used a smoke gun at a home game.

The competition gave home fans a rare chance to watch high-profile names such as Joao Felix, Kingsley Coman and Sadio Mane, although Cristiano Ronaldo did not travel with Al-Nassr. FC Goa slipped to a third straight defeat, while the Saudi Arabian side made it three wins on the spin.
