Andrée Jeglertz says Kerolin and Lily Murphy are available for selection for City’s trip to Leicester this Sunday.
But the boss explained how the visit to the King Power Stadium will come too soon for Alex Greenwood, who continues to make good process in her recovery from injury.
Winger Murphy has been sidelined since our opening day defeat to Chelsea, but she netted in our Next Gen’s 3-1 win over Manchester United on Thursday as her recovery process continued.
Meanwhile, Brazilian forward Kerolin hasn’t featured since our victory at Tottenham in September and City defender and captain Greenwood has been absent following England’s win over Australia in October.
And Jeglertz believes it’s a big boost to have the attacking duo back in full training and in contention to play against the Foxes.
He said: “Both Kerolin and Lily Murphy have trained fully this week, both of them are able to be part of the squad again. I’m really happy for that.
“Alex is also moving forward, she’s not there yet which we expected but her progress is going forward. Hopefully she’ll take big steps in the coming weeks.
“Just looking at the squad the last weeks and adding these two players [Murphy and Kerolin] with their qualities will of course give us more options.
“It also makes training more competitive because there are more players challenging each other and the tempo becomes higher.
“[These are] only positive things.”
When fielding questions from the media, Jeglertz also confirmed Khiara Keating and Sydney Lohmann won’t be available for City’s trip to Leicester this weekend.
After joining up with England and Germany respectively for the recent international break, both players returned to the club during the pause in domestic action after sustaining small issues.
The Lionesses confirmed goalkeeper Keating withdrew from the squad ahead of matches with China and Ghana and Lohmann missed out on the Nations League final double header with Germany.
During his pre-Leicester press conference on Friday, Jeglertz explained how the pair will continue to be monitored by medical staff as their recovery processes continue.
He added: “Unfortunately they got some muscle injuries. They will not be able to participate in this coming game. We’ll see how it is next week.”
