The 2025 CONMEBAL Copa America kicks-off this week!
Starting on Friday 11 July when hosts Ecuador take on Uruguay in Quito, the competition will run for just over three weeks until the final takes place on Saturday 2 August.
Kerolin’s Brazil enter as reigning champions and they’ll be looking to retain their trophy in South America summer, and with it, guarantee a place in the 2028 Olympic Games.
For City’s dazzling forward, she’s set to taste a major competition for the fourth time in her illustrious career – and here’s how she’s fared so far…
Kerolin’s first taste of a major tournament was at the previous Copa America which was hosted by Colombia in 2022.
She went on to play all six matches at the competition which saw her nation progress from the group stage into the final before winning the competition with a 1-0 win over the hosts.
The skilful forward played the full 90 minutes of their opening game – a 4-0 win over Argentina – before playing the first half of each of their triumphs over Uruguay and Venezuela.
A clash with Peru represented their final group game with Kerolin playing another full 90 in a 6-0 win and she started their 2-0 semi-final win over Paraguay before being replaced in the closing stages at Estadio Alfonso Lopez.
Then, in the showpiece against hosts Colombia she again started in the 1-0 win at the same stadium which represented their eighth Copa America triumph.
The 2023 Women’s World Cup proved to be a disappointing tournament for Brazil with the Kerolin and Co narrowly missing out on a place in the knockout phase.
Despite that, City’s forward still impressed when playing in each of her nation’s three Group F assignments.
Their first of these was a superb 4-0 win over Panama where Ary Borges hit a hat-trick and Beatriz Bia Zaneratto scored just after half-time.
Kerolin played the full 90 minutes of the success and did so again when being edged out by France in a 2-1 defeat.
That set-up a decider between Brazil and Jamaica for second place with the latter collecting four points from their other two group matches.
The teams then played out a 0-0 draw with Kerolin playing the entirety but the stalemate meant Brazil were unable to progress into the round of 16.
In what was her third tournament with her country, Kerolin produced a series of strong performances at the 2024 Olympic Games where Brazil collected a Silver Medal.
She featured in five of their six matches which began with a 1-0 win over Nigeria thanks to Gabi Nunes’ goal in the 37th minute.
Despite falling to back-to-back defeats to Japan then Spain, the South American nation still progressed into the knockout stages where they beat France 1-0 with Kerolin playing the final 30 minutes.
Then came her standout moment in France where she sealed the 4-2 semi-final victory over Spain which ensured they would finish with a medal at least.
In the last-four tie, and with Brazil leading 3-1, her relentless pressing paid dividends when she won the ball back in the final third before utilising her pace to break into the box and coolly slot home.
Unfortunately, she missed out on the final defeat to the United States but she more than played her part in Brazil collecting Silver in 2024.
