Inter Milan’s move for Anan Khalaili remains in limbo after CONI medical staff requested additional tests during the second phase of his fitness assessment, leaving a €25 million agreement with Union Saint-Gilloise in suspended animation ahead of a decisive verdict expected Monday.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Khalaili flew into Milan on Friday fully expecting to complete formalities quickly, only for the Istituto di Medicina e Scienza dello Sport in Via Piranesi – a stone’s throw from Linate – to suspend its clearance pending further results. The Nerazzurri can do nothing but wait, given that the evaluation rests entirely with the CONI medical panel and falls outside the club’s sphere of influence.

The deal itself had looked done. Piero Ausilio reached the €25m plus bonuses agreement with Union Saint-Gilloise the day before the medicals, clearing what had appeared to be the final obstacle after an earlier bid had been rejected. Khalaili’s entourage has maintained public optimism, but the club is proceeding cautiously.

The stakes for Monday’s outcome are sharpened by the fact that pre-season begins today without a settled right-sided starter in Cristian Chivu’s squad. Should the Khalaili file close negatively, Ausilio has identified Guéla Doué as the primary alternative, though his profile differs markedly from the Israeli winger’s. Rafik Belghali, the Algerian who Inter monitored at Verona last season, is also being considered, with the regulatory obstacle that blocked a January move now removed.
