Mexico took a 1-0 lead over South Korea at the World Cup after a mistake by goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu on Thursday night.
As reported by L'Équipe, Mexico are co-hosting the tournament with Canada and the USA.
The breakthrough arrived in the 50th minute when Raul Jimenez won a header and Kim failed to collect the high ball, colliding with teammate Lee Gi-hyuk and spilling it. Luis Romo finished into an empty net.
It came in Mexico's second group game of the tournament.
Mexico began their campaign with a 2-0 win over South Africa in last Thursday's opener, while South Korea beat Czechia 2-1.
