Kimmich rules out Germany midfield return despite Pavlović and Nmecha injuries

Joshua Kimmich has ruled out a return to Germany’s midfield for the upcoming friendlies, despite injuries to Aleksandar Pavlović and Felix Nmecha.

The Germany captain, 31, plays centrally for Bayern Munich but has largely been used at right-back by Julian Nagelsmann. According to BuLi News, he said on Tuesday there are no plans for him to shift inside.

Kimmich added that he is confident he can show the same qualities from right-back as he does in midfield.

Looking ahead to Switzerland and Ghana, he expects two positive, good performances and urged the group not to look too far ahead with the World Cup later this year.

He stressed the focus must stay on what comes next and noted that the squad could look different by the time the tournament arrives.
