Appointed this morning, Germany head coach Jürgen Klopp is assessing alternatives for the right-back role.

According to Sky Germany, identifying a new right-back is Klopp’s first priority for Germany and Joshua Kimmich is not viewed in that role going forward.

As at Liverpool, where he developed Trent Alexander-Arnold, Klopp places significant importance on his full-backs.

He is already paying close attention to Germany’s youth sides to find the right long-term profile.

On Kimmich’s position, Klopp said: “I have ideas, but I haven't spoken to anyone yet. I'm not going to assign any positions here.”

“Whoever is very good, really keen, and whoever gets even better the moment they put on the national team jersey, will play,” he added.
