On Thursday, Sky Germany reported that 1. FC Köln have reached an agreement in principle with West Ham to sign Edson Álvarez on loan.

However, there is still work to be done before the move can be completed, with Álvarez’s wage demands representing a potential stumbling block.

According to Bild, 1. FC Köln have lined up an alternative should their move for the Mexico captain ultimately fall through.

In that case, the Billy Goats could turn to Ellyes Skhiri, with Bild reporting that Eintracht Frankfurt are willing to let the 31-year-old leave for €2 million.

The Tunisia international, who played for Köln between 2019 and 2023, is reportedly open to a return.
