Harry Kane continues to struggle with minor ailments – Bayern coach Vincent Kompany has now spoken about the fitness of his top goalscorer
The personnel situation surrounding Harry Kane remains a key issue at FC Bayern. Although the Englishman was on the pitch for the full distance in the Champions League thriller against Real Madrid, the striker is clearly still not at 100 percent
Coach Vincent Kompany has now explained why Kane was rested for the 5-0 win in the Bundesliga match against FC St. Pauli – and gave some interesting insights into how he deals with his top player
„Resting him is perhaps not quite the right term. Harry had slight discomfort after the game against Real Madrid, but it’s nothing serious that would prevent him from playing the next game,“ said Kompany
Despite the all-clear, those in charge at Säbener Straße have made it clear that they do not want to take any unnecessary risks. The focus is on load management, especially in view of the crucial phase of the season
Kompany emphasized: „We shouldn’t take too many unnecessary risks with him. It was fantastic that he played the full 90 minutes at the Bernabeu.“

The Bayern coach also made it clear that planning is already looking beyond the next game, with possible extra time in the Champions League playing a particular role: „Maybe we have to play 120 minutes in the next game, who knows. I hope not, but we have to make sensible decisions like that.“
This makes it clear that although Kane is fit for action, he is currently being deployed with caution. FC Bayern are certain that the goalscorer should be available in top form, especially in the decisive games of the season.
