In his press conference this afternoon, Niko Kovač confirmed that two defenders will be absent for Broussia Dortmund's clash with Gladbach this Friday.

“Jobe Bellingham will be suspended, and Ramy Bensebaini is at the Africa Cup of Nations. Waldemar Anton and Aaron Anselmino will also be unavailable tomorrow," he explained.

Fears started to grow after both centre-backs limped off with thigh injuries in their 2-2 draw with Bodø/Glimt. However, Kovač didn't mention whether Sabitzer or Brandt would be available.

The 54-year-old coach of the Westphalian club called upon their fans to get them over the line tomorrow and also gave insights into their opponents from the Rhineland.

“As a team, we’ve developed well and are in a better position than last year. We need the stadium – it has magic and energy. We often need that boost from the stands – it helps us win games.

“Gladbach have stabilized; they’ve made good progress recently. They’re a tough team to play against and will defend well. Our clear ambition is to win the last game of 2025," Kovač added.

BVB welcome the Foals to the Westfalenstadion to kickstart the action for Matchday 15 – You can find our full preview of the game here.
