Kylian Mbappé has withdrawn his criminal complaint against Paris Saint-Germain for moral harassment and attempted extortion of a signature, according to L’Équipe. The now-Real Madrid forward had filed the complaint on May 16, which led to a preliminary investigation and the appointment of two examining judges on June 24.
The decision was made public on Monday through his legal team, marks a shift in tone from the Mbappé camp, which is now seeking to de-escalate legal tensions and focus purely on sporting matters. However, the 26-year-old World Cup winner is continuing his case against PSG in the French labour courts , where he is pursuing €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses linked to the final months of his time in Paris.
Despite the drawn-out and often public fallout between Mbappé and PSG—particularly during the 2023-24 season, when he was excluded from the first team for several weeks—relations between the player and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi have recently softened. The Qatari executive even extended well wishes to Mbappé in an interview with L’Équipe, saying: “We were lucky this year, even without him. But I wish him the best at Real Madrid, from the bottom of my heart.”
The two may cross paths again soon, with PSG and Real Madrid due to meet this Wednesday in the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup, held in New Jersey. While no formal meeting is scheduled, their mutual presence at the event opens the door to a potential public thaw.GFFN | George Boxall
