Real Madrid have released their squad list for Tuesday’s Champions League round of 16 second leg clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
There have been a couple of inclusions, but the headline addition so far is the return of Kylian Mbappe.
The France international hasn’t played for Madrid in nearly a month, last making an appearance in the shocking 2-1 La Liga defeat against Osasuna.
He has been nursing a left knee sprain that also kept him out of the first leg against City last week.
However, he returned to team training over the weekend and has now been included in Alvaro Arbeloa’s travelling squad for the trip to the Etihad.
It remains to be seen if Arbeloa will risk playing Mbappe on Tuesday, particularly as Los Blancos already have one foot in the Champions League quarter-final.
The Spanish powerhouse are heading to England with a comfortable 3-0 cushion from the first leg, courtesy of a stunning hat-trick from Federico Valverde.
That victory means Arbeloa may not have to rush Mbappe’s return from injury, giving him more time to fully recover ahead of the final 10 games of the La Liga campaign.
Los Merengues are currently trailing fierce rivals Barcelona by four points in the La Liga title race and will need all the firepower they can muster to keep pace with the Catalans.
Mbappe has missed Madrid’s last five games across all competitions, but Arbeloa’s side have found a way to manage without their talisman, winning four of those fixtures.
The Frenchman is currently leading the La Liga goalscoring chart with 23 goals. He has also bagged 13 goals in eight Champions League games.
Meanwhile, Madrid have also welcomed Jude Bellingham back to the fold. The England international also missed the first leg and has been out since the start of February.
His timely return is a further boost to Madrid, who are looking to finish City off and progress to the Champions League quarter-final.
