Jean-Louis Gasset died on Friday aged 72. Kylian Mbappé paid tribute with a post on Instagram.
According to L'Équipe, the France captain called Gasset an encyclopaedia of football, thanked him, and offered condolences to his family and friends.

Mbappé was never coached by Gasset but faced his teams often during his Ligue 1 years with Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain. He is now a Real Madrid forward.
Across that period, Gasset was assistant at PSG from 2013 to 2016. He then managed Montpellier from January to June 2017 and Saint-Étienne from November 2017 to 2019.
He later led Bordeaux from 2020 to 2021 and OM from February to May 2024. Gasset was an emblematic figure in French football.
