Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe entered the international break with the weight off his shoulders as he scored a match-defining brace in the team’s clash against Real Betis.

Having finally opened his account in La Liga, many expected the player to feel liberated and play freely with the French national team.

He was, however, very poor in the team’s stunning defeat against Italy last week and is even being held as one of the main culprits as revealed by SPORT.

Retaliation in the dressing room

As relayed by the outlet, Mbappe was the focal point of criticism after the team’s defeat last week not only among fans but also in the dressing room.

He has, thus, clashed with many figures in the team and returns to Madrid with a bitter taste in his mouth.

France goalkeeper Mike Maignan, in particular, reportedly lashed out at several key players, including Mbappe, after the game with a special focus on veterans and Mbappe.

He said the Real Madrid star lacked the required burning desire on the field and implied serious complacency from Mbappe’s side.

The atmosphere in the French national team is thus very tense and it is clear that Mbappe is not in an easy moment.

Even Didier Deschamps, the national team manager, is said to have had firm words to say to the winger amidst the growing tensions. Mbappe did not hold back on his part, demanding a tactical change in the team to improve on-field dynamics.

It remains to be seen if the internal tensions have any impact on the player’s performance upon his return to Madrid. Los Blancos will seriously hope there is no such detriment.
