Kylian Mbappé became the World Cup’s all-time leading scorer in 2026, hitting 22 after a brace in France’s 4-6 defeat to England in the third-place play-off.

He opened his account against Peru, then struck twice in the last 16 against Argentina after winning an earlier penalty. In the final with Croatia he became the youngest World Cup final scorer since Pelé.

In 2022 he headed his fifth World Cup goal against Australia. He then hit a late winner to complete a brace against Denmark.

He devastated Poland with two superb finishes in the last 16. In the final with Argentina he scored an 80th-minute penalty, equalised 95 seconds later, then completed a hat-trick with another spot-kick in extra time.

In 2026 he netted twice against Senegal, including a stoppage-time rocket, added another double versus Iraq, then scored two more against Sweden.

A penalty edged out Paraguay, and a curled finish beat Morocco. Against England he added two more, the second taking him past Lionel Messi and sealing his seventh World Cup brace.
