Etta Eyong has emerged as one of the rising stars in La Liga, establishing himself as a leader of the Levante frontline.
The forward has already racked up six goals in 12 league games so far, which has put clubs like Barcelona on red alert as they look to find a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
Eyong fits the bill perfectly, given his age profile and knack for finding himself in goalscoring opportunities. And now, the player himself has been throwing hints about his desire to join Barcelona as well.
In a recent interview with SportyTV (h/t Mundo Deportivo), the Cameroon international again revealed his strong preference for a move to Barcelona by referencing the club’s illustrious past and his childhood heroes.
Speaking on his compatriot and football legend, Etta Eyong commented that “when I was a child, I watched Eto’o’s matches for Barcelona.”
He went on to talk about Argentine ace Lionel Messi, who recently made a surprise visit to Camp Nou.

“For me, Leo Messi is the best, and playing with him would be a dream I wouldn’t want to wake up from,” he said.
Barcelona is actively considering Eyong as an option once Polish striker Robert Lewandowski’s contract with the Catalan club expires.
The Levante player has become one of the sensations of La Liga, making him a very attractive prospect not just for his talent, but for his accessible price tag: a €30 million release clause for Spanish clubs and €40 million for foreign clubs.
Aside from showing his clear preference for Barça, the young striker also revealed his high professional ambition.
“In two years, I imagine myself winning the Champions League, why not in one year, and the Africa Cup of Nations is also a goal for me in a few months.”
FInally, the attacker talked about his mentality. “The most important thing in life is the brain. If you don’t have concentration, you lose everything,” he concluded.
