Ballon d’Or holder Rodri has this weekend provided his take on the race for the next edition of the award.
This of course comes with the ceremony now fast approaching…
On September 22nd, football’s finest the world over will convene at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France, for the Ballon d’Or gala.
As things stand, there are two clear frontrunners for the prize, in Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal, and Paris Saint-Germain frontman Ousmane Dembélé.
The latter, owing to his exploits en route to PSG bringing an end to the club’s Champions League curse, is considered the favourite with the bookmakers.
Who, though, is most deserving in the eyes of the current Ballon d’Or holder?
Faced by the media this week, Manchester City and Spain star Rodri was asked who he feels will ultimately go on to replace him as the player with the title of world football’s best.
And the midfielder went on to highlight four names:
“Ballon d’Or? Out of affection, I would like Lamine or Pedri to win, although if it’s based on sporting merits, maybe Ousmane or Vitinha.”
