Lamine Yamal expected to be fit for the World Cup | OneFootball

Barcelona star Lamine Yamal will miss the final games of the 2025/26 season but is expected to return for this summer's World Cup for Spain.

The teenager was injured while taking the match-winning first half penalty for Barça against Celta de Vigo on Wednesday evening. Yamal dropped to the floor immediately after tucking the ball past Ionut Radu to make it 1-0.

Hansi Flick brought on Roony Bardghji in his place but now be without Yamal for the final six games of the La Liga season.

"Medical tests have confirmed that first-team player Lamine Yamal has sustained an injury to the biceps femoris muscle in his left leg," the Catalan club said in a statement.

"The player will undergo conservative treatment. Lamine Yamal will miss the rest of the season but is expected to be available for the World Cup."

Yamal has played 45 times for Barcelona in all competitions this season, scoring 24 goals and making 17 assists.
