Leeds United are likely to seek funds this summer, with the futures of returning loanees under scrutiny. According to Leeds Live, Squad Cost Ratio rules are squeezing spending, so buying must be shrewd and selling could be cut-throat.

Seven senior players spent time out on loan, two moving mid-season. Only two remained in England, two others went to Spain and a pair even joined the same club.

Joe Gelhardt hit 15 goals for Hull City, including eight in 10 Championship games from October to December, lifting them into the play-off race. A calf injury checked his momentum, yet he still finished as the league’s sixth-highest scorer and ended with a dramatic Wembley play-off final win.

Largie Ramazani waited until January for his first goal after a month-long muscle injury and no La Liga starts. His first start, against Levante, brought a goal, then he scored in his next two while keeping his place, sparking five in 10. He then managed only one in his final nine league games and lost his starting spot, beginning the last four on the bench following 11 consecutive starts.

Harry Gray’s first sustained senior spell brought 20 starts for Rotherham United after a January move, yielding three goals and an assist under two managers. He missed two matches while returning to Leeds for injury treatment and was often used on the left rather than up front. He returns to Elland Road a more seasoned, streetwise option.

Leeds now weigh interest and valuations before deciding who to offload or keep in the squad this summer.
