Valencia left Vila-real with another defeat and a missed chance to pull clear of the relegation zone. Yet one clear positive emerged. Largie Ramazani looks revitalised. Villarreal were the more clinical and took the derby.
AS notes that after a difficult start to the season, the Belgian has stepped up. At La Cerámica he converted a penalty, his third goal in the last five matchdays against Espanyol, Levante and Villarreal. He has earned Corberán’s trust with two consecutive starts, the only times he has started so far coming against Levante and Villarreal.
Beyond the goal, his numbers across those two fixtures underline his growth and buy-in. Known for pace, trickery and finishing, he also showed real sacrifice against Levante and Villarreal.
At La Cerámica he finished as the outfield player with the most recoveries, eight. He also led the game for shots with three, was third for passes in the final third with 13, and third among Valencia players for crosses with two.
Against Levante he added four recoveries and was among the side’s standouts. This version has convinced Corberán, who appears to have brought the Belgian back into the fold after a testing few months.
There is recognition too. His volley against Levante has been voted LaLiga’s February Goal of the Month, edging Elgezabal of Levante UD and Maupay of Sevilla FC.
