The Bundesliga’s last-placed-side had terribly injury news to report on Monday afternoon. Newly acquired left back Leart Paçarada may miss most of the rest of the season due to a brutal ACL tear. The 30-year-old is slated for surgery this week and, per the club, will be out for “many months“. Paçarada certainly won’t be back before the end of the 2025 calendar year.
Paçarada’s early exit from Heidenheim’s weekend fixture against Borussia Dortmund left the Ostalbenschwaben without much of a chance against their heavily-favored guests. Dortmund ended up cruising to an easy 0-2 away win. Heidenheim are now at rock bottom of the Bundesliga table and happen to be the only top flight club not to have gained at least one point.
Heidenheim happen to be extremely weak at the left-back position with only veteran Jonas Föhrenbach available to fill the role now. Frank Schmidt’s FCH have only scored one goal through three league matches this season. Schimdt’s team also continue to reel from the unexpected loss of attacker Leo Scienza to Southampton near the end of the summer transfer window.
“Paça’s injury hits us all hard,” Schmidt noted in a club statement. “In the coming months, we will have to band together even more closely as a team and compensate for the loss of Leart Paçarada together.”
