We love a Fabrizio Romano Tweet hot off the press, and we’ve got one here for you.
The Italian transfer insider has just come in with an update on one of the longer running stories of the year – Chelsea’s interest in Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United.
Romano says the winger is “keen on joining Chelsea,” and that such a move was his “priority” back in January when the possibility first came up. Garnacho is “still keen on the move this summer.”
From Chelsea’s point of view, the Blues are “considering to bid later this month”, as has been the case for weeks. There are bids from abroad
Chelsea are likely waiting to see how things go with Xavi Simons. That deal is pretty advanced, and it’s tough to see it not happening now – there’s so much momentum.
The question is if we would still sign Garnacho should the deal for the Dutchman complete. In the past we would have said no, as it doesn’t really make sense with our squad balance. But these sporting directors have shown they’re always happy to make an opportunistic buy should a player come onto the market below their true value, and Garnacho could be a perfect example of that.

This is a situation that is walking into us. The winger wants to leave, Man U are desperate to sell, and offers from other teams are being pushed back because the Argentine wants to come to Stamford Bridge. As we head towards the start of the season, things are going to start getting desperate, and demands are likely to drop.
No wonder we’re happy to play the waiting game.
