Chelsea lifted the League Cup once again as Lauren James inspired the Blues to victory over her former club Manchester United.
The England international made the difference with just under 19 minutes gone when she smashed the ball past Phallon Tullis-Joyce from close range as United switched off.
Marc Skinner's side were always the underdogs going into this one but had chances to equalise in the first half. Elisabeth Terland had an effort bounce off the bar while Ellen Wangerheim went close just before the break.
At the other end, Maya Le Tissier needed to be at her very best when Alyssa Thompson burst through and looked to be about to strike but the defender just managed to get back in time.
United looked to be missing their pace-setting midfielder Hinata Miyazawa and Chelsea were very much in the ascendancy in the second half.
The Blues doubled their lead and essentially wrapped up the trophy in the 77th minute. Rytting Kaneryd put in a cross to the back pass where Aggie Beever-Jones had time to control before making it 2-0.
That win is now Chelsea's fourth League Cup victory, which puts them level with Manchester City. Sonia Bompastor will be hoping it gives their side a boost in the league, especially after City dropped points earlier today.
United meanwhile failed to beat Chelsea in a cup final once again and now have to lift their heads before facing West Ham United in the WSL midweek.
