Lazio and Inter close to agreement for Ivan Provedel | OneFootball

According to The Laziali, Lazio and Inter are close to agreeing a deal for Ivan Provedel after a breakthrough in talks. The 32-year-old could join the reigning Italian champions.

Provedel has been at Lazio since 2022. With Maurizio Sarri leaving for Atalanta, his main backer is gone. New head coach Gennaro Gattuso has identified Christos Mandas as first choice, with Edoardo Motta as deputy.

Provedel has an admirer in Cristian Chivu, who asked the club to sign him as Yann Sommer’s replacement. The Nerazzurri have promoted Josep Martinez to the No.1 role, and want an experienced option alongside him.

Provedel’s agent, Gianni Riva, said the move is very close and hopes it will be finalised soon. He said Provedel grew up an Inter fan and sees this as a career high, and that his client will compete for minutes rather than accept a backup role.

Riva added he does not believe there has been contact with Chivu, and although time is short they remain confident. He described Provedel’s path as long and said the timing now feels right.
