The relationship between Lazio and Maurizio Sarri has reached a strategic stalemate, with both parties currently locked in a waiting game regarding the manager’s inevitable departure.
According to Il Messaggero, as relayed by RadioSei, Sarri has no intention of resigning from his position. The Tuscan is prepared to wait for the club to officially fire him, a move that would protect his contractual entitlements. On the other side of the divide, the Lazio are biding their time, hoping that Sarri secures a position at a new club ahead of next season.
This deadlock is primarily driven by finances. If Sarri actively seeks an exit to join a new project, it would significantly strengthen Lazio’s hand during negotiations over a compensation package or a contract termination by mutual consent.
While internal planning for the next campaign is already underway behind the scenes, the resolution of Sarri’s status remains the primary hurdle. The club is eager to clear his salary from the books to facilitate their summer overhaul, but for now, neither side seems willing to blink first.
