Lazio President Claudio Lotito is serious about controversial Manchester United winger Mason Greenwood, but the club’s strategy will not be altered.

The 22-year-old Englishman was dumped off by the Red Devils to Getafe last summer following his serious legal issues, which saw him charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and controlling and coercive behaviour. Charges were later controversially dropped.

Manchester United want to sell Greenwood on a definitive transfer this summer and Lazio have emerged as one of the most serious suitors, drawing up an offer of €20 million plus a 50% future resale clause for the 22-year-old.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Lazio are not willing to improve their offer for Greenwood and have already started exploring in-depth a deal for Feyenoord’s Calvin Stengs as an alternative.

The Red Devils will soon announce their pre-season training squad and the 22-year-old’s absence could cause a summer auction, which may provide some competition for the Biancocelesti. Olympique Marseille have also been linked with a move.

Lazio President Lotito is serious about a deal for Greenwood and is closely working with a London-based intermediary to try and find an agreement.
