After running an enquiry, Lazio have reportedly submitted their first offer for Fluminense striker John Kennedy.

Lazio Keen to Add a Reliable Goal-Scorer

Last season, the Biancocelesti suffered from a goal drought, only netting 41 goals in 38 Serie A rounds. None of their players was able to surpass the five-goal threshold across all competitions. Therefore, Gennaro Gattuso insisted that signing a new centre-forward should be a priority, alongside bolstering the backline following the departures of Mario Gila and Alessio Romagnoli.

John Kennedy is Now a Serious Target for Lazio

On Wednesday, Kennedy first emerged as a target for the Italian capital side. The 23-year-old is a Brazilian attacker who mostly plays as a No.9, despite his relatively small stature (173 cm). This season, he has thus far contributed with 14 goals and two assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.

Fluminense Turn Down First Lazio Offer for Kennedy

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio have already sent their first bid to Fluminense, placing €8 million on the table. However, the Rio de Janeiro side has set its asking price at €12 million. Therefore, the two clubs still have a significant gap to bridge, but the Aquile feel they can reduce the transfer fee, as the player’s contract will expire in less than 18 months (December 2027).

Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) adds that Kennedy has the same agents as Felipe Anderson, a former Lazio star who left the club in 2024 on amicable terms.

A Familiar Scenario for Cash-Strapped Lazio?

It should be noted that Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani have already missed out on other targets after failing to meet the seller’s asking price. Jonathan Asp Jensen is a prime example, as despite his desire to join Lazio, Bayern Munich ended up selling him to Deportivo La Coruña, who made a more satisfying offer.

Lazio risk suffering a similar fate with Sergi Dominguez, who emerged as their primary target for the defence, but their offers have thus far fallen short of Dinamo Zagreb’s €15 million request.
