Lazio will be without their head coach, Maurizio Sarri, over the next few days, as the Italian will go under the knife on Monday. According to Il Messaggero (via Lazio Press), the 66-year-old had long planned this surgery, deciding that Monday would be the ideal time to conduct it.

While the nature of the procedure remains private, it is most probably a minor operation, as the manager is expected to return to Formello on Wednesday afternoon to oversee Lazio’s final training session in 2025, at least according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

In the meantime, Sarri’s assistant, Marco Ianni, will take over the preparations for the weekend’s big clash against Napoli. The Biancocelesti will host the defending Italian champions at the Stadio Olimpico for Sunday’s launch-time kickoff (12:30 CET).

The showdown against Napoli will be Lazio’s first contest in 2026, and Sarri would be loath to miss the opportunity to host his old employers.
