Lazio are reportedly willing to launch a new and improved bid for Napoli midfielder Michael Fololrunsho. The 26-year-old was one of the Biancocelesti’s main transfer targets last summer. The club was hoping to bring back the player who rose through their youth ranks between 2014 and 2017, while Marco Baroni was keen to reunite with his Reggina and Hellas Verona pupil.

However, the two clubs failed to find an agreement on the fee and the formula. The Italian capital side was only willing to sign the Italy international on loan with an option to buy, while the Partenopei insisted on adding an obligation-to-buy clause. Moreover, Lazio only wanted to splash €10 million, while Napoli were seeking a higher figure.

Nevertheless, circulating reports are tipping the Aquile to try their luck again in January, especially since the player is struggling for playing time at Antonio Conte’s court, only making a single appearance as a substitute since the start of the season. So according to Il Mattino (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Lazio president Claudio Lotito is ready to raise his offer for Folorunsho to €14 million.

This adjustment suggests Lazio could be serious in their attempts to sway the Italian to Formello in the winter. The midfielder enjoyed his big Serie A breakthrough this season, so he wouldn’t want to spend his entire campaign sitting on the bench.
