Lazio are still pushing to sign Inter Milan benchwarmer Davide Frattesi, but the Nerazzurri continue to resist.
This has been an eventful winter transfer window for the Aquile, and the deadline day will certainly follow the trend. The Italian capital side has agreed to release Matias Vecino, who is on his way to finalizing a transfer to Celta Vigo.
It also remains to be seen if Reda Belahyane will still be allowed to rejoin Hellas Verona. But in any case, Maurizio Sarri would argue that the squad lacks a quality player in the middle of the park. The head coach had insisted that Matteo Guendouzi wasn’t properly replaced, despite the arrival of Kenneth Taylor from Ajax.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio launched a new attempt to recruit Frattesi, whom they consider the ideal profile to inherit Guendouzi’s box-to-box role. The Biancocelesti offered Inter a loan with an obligation to buy for €30 million, which would be activated by the accomplishment of certain sporting achievements.
Nevertheless, the Serie A leaders turned down the proposal, as they continue to resist all offers for the 26-year-old, who hasn’t been happy with his lack of playing time under Christian Chivu. Nottingham Forest were also said to be close to acquiring the services of the Roman midfielder, but eventually fell short.
Therefore, it remains to be seen if the final hours of the transfer window will bear any new developments on this track. Lazio have also been linked with two 20-year-old midfielders, namely Jens Hjertø-Dahl, a Norwegian who plays for Tromso, and Stefan Dzodic, a French-Serbian who’s currently active at Almeria.
