La Lazio Siamo Noi reports that Lazio are monitoring Cruzeiro winger Kaique Kenji as part of their youth-focused recruitment.

In recent weeks, the Biancocelesti have been linked with several South American prospects, notably young Argentine defenders identified by club scouts.

Kaique Kenji Takamura Correa, 20, is the son of Kleber, a former left-back with 22 Brazil caps. Born in Sao Paulo, he is also eligible for Japan through his mother.

A right-footed player, he primarily operates as an inverted left winger. He can also feature as an attacking midfielder or centre-forward.

He came through Corinthians’ academy before joining Cruzeiro. Promoted to the first team last May under Artur Jorge, he has been used only sporadically, making seven appearances and scoring once in all competitions.

Lazio aim to refresh the squad with emerging talent from across the globe. Talks for Kaique have not begun, but he has been placed on a shortlist.

He could serve as Mattia Zaccagni’s understudy if Angelo Fabiani and colleagues decide against spending €14 million to buy Daniel Maldini from Atalanta. Maldini was meant to back up the captain, though Maurizio Sarri has persisted with him as a striker despite limited end product.
