Before they lock horns in the Coppa Italia final four days later, Lazio and Inter Milan will meet for a dress rehearsal this weekend.
The Serie A clash between Lazio and Inter Milan kicks off at 18:00 local time on Saturday, May 9, at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

The Biancocelesti have truly hit their stride in the final months of the season. Their only defeat in the last 10 games was the away Serie A fixture against Fiorentina. Elsewise, Maurizio Sarri’s men have been racking up positive results, with the latest coming in Cremona on Monday, when they managed to complete a come-from-behind victory inspired by Tijjani Noslin.
Lazio’s rosy patch also included an impressive 2-0 victory over Napoli at the Stadio Maradona, and more importantly, their qualification to the Coppa Italia final at Atalanta’s expense following dramatic penalty shootouts. Even their entertaining 3-3 draw against Udinese can be deemed an acceptable result, given the circumstances.
The Aquile currently sit 8th in the Serie A table, closing the gap to Atalanta to just four points.
The Nerazzurri had endured a rough March, losing the Derby against AC Milan and then dropping points against Atalanta and Fiorentin. However, they bounced back in style in April, making short work of Roma and Cagliari, and prevailing in two thrilling battles against Como, one in the league and the other in the Coppa Italia.
In their most recent outing, Inter beat Parma 2-0 to mathematically clinch their 21st Scudetto title. Therefore, Cristian Chivu’s men have nothing left to play for in Serie A, except for pride and bragging rights.
Lazio (4-3-3): Motta; Lazzari, Gila, Romagnoli, Pellegrini; Basic, Rovella, Taylor; Cancellieri, Maldini, Zaccagni.
Inter (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, Acerbi, Carlos Augusto; Dumfries, Barella, Zielinski, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Lautaro, Bonny.
With a cup final to negotiate next week, both sides could run in energy-saving mode on Saturday. The almost empty stands could further demotivate the players. But while the two managers will be making some necessary changes, the quality at Chivu’s disposal should make all the difference, as Inter are strong enough to compete with any other Italian opponent even when missing several key players.
