AL AIN FC

Location: Al Ain are based in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

They have played at the 25,000 capacity Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in the eastern region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi since 2014.

Qualification: ‘Al Zaeem’ earned their spot by virtue of winning the AFC Champions League in May 2024 after defeating Japanese side Yokohama F. Marinos.

That earned them one of AFC’s four places alongside Al Hilal, Ulsan HD and Urawa Red Diamonds.

History: Formed in 1968 as Al Ain Sports Club, they are the most successful side in the United Arab Emirates with 14 UAE Pro League titles to their name.

Their crest depicts Al Jahili Fort which was established in the late 19th century and is seen as a symbol of the city.

They began life by wearing green and white shirts but after a friendly tournament in 1977 organised by Wydad AC (also in City’s group at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025) in which Al Ain faced Anderlecht, they decided to adopt the Belgian team’s iconic purple strip.

Manager: Former Watford and Maccabi Tel Aviv boss Vladimir Ivic is the man in charge at Al Ain having succeeded Leonardo Jardim in February of this year.

Ivic led Maccabi to successive Israeli league titles between 2018 and 2020 .

The former Serbian international defender also spent a season in charge with Watford and also led Russian side Krasnodar before then taking up the position at Al Ain.

Star players: The vast majority of Al Ain’s squad are from the UAE, with the likes of goalkeeper Khalid Eisa stars for their country.

The squad also includes several international talents including South Korea international Park Yong-woo, Togo striker Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba and Moroccan forward Soufiane Rahimi.

Current form: Al Ain ended the 2024/25 UAE Pro League, in fifth position in the table, winning 12 of their 26 matches.

It proved a disappointing 2025 AFC Champions League campaign for Al Ain as they finished 12th in the 12-team Elite league West region stage.

JUVENTUS

Location: Turin, Italy

Qualification: The Serie A side qualified via the ranking pathway after Napoli and Lazio were eliminated in the Champions League Round of 16.

History: The Italian giants were founded in 1897 by a group of Torinese students. Since then they have won 36 league titles, 15 Coppa Italia trophies and nine Italian Super Cups, making them the record holders for all three.

On the international stage, Juventus have also lifted two Champions League, two Intercontinental Cups, one European Cup Winners’ Cup, three UEFA Cups, two UEFA Super Cups and one UEFA Intertoto Cup.

Manager: Igor Tudor became the Head Coach of Juventus in March 2025 in succession to Thiago Motta. Prior to his move to Turin, Tudor boasted extensive managerial experience with the likes of Lazio, Marseille, Udinese and Hajduk Split amongst others.

Before becoming a coach, Tudor enjoyed a successful playing career as a combative centre half, predominantly with Hajduk Split and Juventus as well as featuring for his native Croatia.

Star players: The Turin side boast a squad packed with quality aplenty. Left-back Andrea Cambiaso and winger Kenan Yildiz both caught the eye across the 2024/25 campaign.

Meanwhile, striker Dusan Vlahovic led the line in impressive fashion, claiming 15 goals in all competitions with former Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz a formidable presence in midfield.

Current form: Juventus finished the 2024/25 Serie A campaign in fourth place and reached the quarter finals of the Coppa Italia.

In the Champions League meanwhile, Juve were eliminated in the last 16 play-offs at the hands of PSV Eindhoven.

A former Wydad player, he was previously in charge of RCA Zemamra and FUS Rabat.
