Leeds United have reached an agreement to sign Harry Wilson on a free transfer, with a medical to follow, according to Leeds Live.

The Whites pursued the 29-year-old amid strong competition from clubs competing in Europe, and have won the race for his signature.

Wilson agreed terms with Leeds on deadline day last summer before Fulham withdrew late in the window. He then recorded 10 goals and seven assists in 36 Premier League matches last season.

Fulham offered him a new contract this month but expectation was that he would leave Craven Cottage, particularly after the exit of manager Marco Silva. His current deal expires next week.

If he passes his Leeds medical and the paperwork is filed, he would be the second-oldest in-contract outfield player in the United squad at 29, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin a few days older. That would change should Sam Byram, 32, agree a renewal with his deal up at the end of the month.

He looks set to become Leeds’ first signing of the summer and would join a sizeable Welsh cohort that includes Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Daniel James, Charlie Crew and Jayden Lienou. The club are in contract renewal talks with Wales no.1 Karl Darlow.

Leeds are also exploring deals for Borussia Dortmund talent Julian Brandt, another soon-to-be free agent, and Southampton midfielder Shea Charles, 22. Brandt is thought to have significant interest from the continent amid links with several Italian clubs, while talks with Southampton continue for Charles despite reports of a £20m bid being knocked back.
