According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds United have verbally agreed a deal in principle to sell Pascal Struijk to Brighton this summer for around £20m, and while he was offered a new contract he wanted a new challenge.

The centre-back is out of contract next year. He has made 196 appearances since arriving from Ajax in January 2018, initially with the under-21s.

Brighton sold centre-back Jan Paul Van Hecke to Tottenham earlier this month for £52m, while Adam Webster is also leaving as his contract expires. They will have European football next season in the Europa Conference League after finishing eighth.

Brighton also signed Georginio Rutter from Leeds in August 2024. Leeds are preparing for their second season back in the Premier League.

Leeds reached an agreement last week to sign Fulham attacker Harry Wilson on a free after his Cottagers deal expired, with only his medical and paperwork to complete.

They are also pursuing Germany international Julian Brandt, a free agent after his Borussia Dortmund contract expired, and remain in negotiations for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles.
